Laura Beken is part of the CHOC innovation team. She is a manager for the Medical Intelligence and Innovation Institute (MI3), working with Dr. Anthony Chang, Chief Intelligence and Innovation Officer and Dr. Spyro Mousses, Chief Scientific Advisor. She served as the President of the Healthcare Innovation Network, a regional collaborative that connects healthcare providers with innovators in San Diego, Orange and Los Angeles Counties.
Prior to that she was the editor for the Physicians News Network, covering news about economics and technology of healthcare in Southern California. Laura Beken started multiple companies. She started her career as a designer and programmer at Scripps Institute of Oceanography, then software engineer at Synergy Microsystems, Inc. She was a competitive figure skater and later a figure skating coach.
Passionate about innovation, her interests range from psychology and behavioral economics to journalism, business development, entrepreneurship and building collaborative networks.
